Orthopaedic Physiotherapy

You’ve had an injury, and now stiffness and pain are keeping you from the workouts you love. Or maybe you’re feeling less flexible and it’s been harder to do your everyday activities. You’ve looked up a few exercises to try at home and you just aren’t seeing the improvement you expected after trying things on your own. Seeing a physiotherapist with training in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions can help!

You can feel better and it doesn’t have to be hard.

No matter what has led to you looking for a physiotherapy clinic, rest assured that I will work with you to get to the root of what is going on and work on a plan to get you back to feeling like yourself again. Physiotherapy sessions are always 1:1 with a physiotherapist, appointments are never double-booked so you can be my sole focus, and you’ll never be given a cookie-cutter exercise plan. Your care will be individualized to meet your needs.

So, whether your goal is to play with your kids, be more comfortable during your workday, or get back to being active again, I’m here to help you reach that goal!

The Wave Physiotherapy Approach

1

I’ll start with a detailed health history, we’ll talk about what’s brought you in for a physiotherapy appointment, and go over what you would like to get back to doing again. Having a good understanding of what’s important to you and what you’ve been feeling guides what to look at during the physical exam.

2

I will take you through an in-depth orthopaedic examination. This may include functional movements (like squats or reaching overhead), mobility and strength evaluations, testing your nervous system (ie reflexes), and taking a feel of the area that you’re having trouble with. It’s common during the assessment to experience the issue you’ve come to the clinic for and this isn’t necessarily a bad thing - I’ll use what brings on your symptoms to track your recovery.

3

We’ll talk about the assessment findings, what these results mean, and what the plan to help you feel better looks like. Depending on the type of condition, your session may include hands-on treatment to improve joint mobility or soft tissue extensibility, education to help you manage your symptoms, acupuncture or dry needling to help with pain management, and an active program for home to work on until your next appointment.
